StudyPony - Study Mode for YouTube ("StudyPony") is a browser extension published by DreamyFrog. StudyPony helps parents, homeschool families, teachers, and learners turn YouTube into a more focused learning environment by hiding common distractions and supporting approved learning channels and playlists.

Information StudyPony Handles
StudyPony handles information only as needed to provide its extension features. The extension may process the following information locally in the browser:
- The Study Mode on/off setting.
- Approved learning channels saved by a parent or user, including channel names and handles when available.
- Approved learning playlists saved by a parent or user, including playlist IDs and optional playlist titles.
- Weekday homework schedule settings, if enabled.
- A parent PIN hash, if a parent sets a PIN. The PIN itself is not stored in plaintext.
- A temporary unlock timestamp used to keep parent settings unlocked for a short period after PIN verification.
- The current YouTube page context, such as whether the page is a home page, watch page, Shorts page, playlist page, search page, or channel page.
- The current YouTube channel or playlist context when needed to decide whether content is approved or to let the user approve the current channel or playlist.
How StudyPony Uses This Information
StudyPony uses the information above to provide its single purpose: helping users create a focused learning mode for YouTube.
Specifically, StudyPony uses local settings and YouTube page context to:
- Turn Study Mode on or off.
- Hide distracting YouTube surfaces such as Shorts, recommendations, comments, end screens, and other noisy navigation.
- Keep the watch page focused on the learning video, title, and source.
- Check whether the current YouTube channel or playlist has been approved.
- Show a local blocking overlay when Study Mode is on and the current content is outside the approved learning list.
- Apply optional parent guardrails such as a PIN and weekday homework schedule.
- Import or export an approved channel and playlist list when the user chooses to do so.
Local Storage
StudyPony stores extension settings in browser extension storage on the user's device. During early access, StudyPony does not transmit extension settings to DreamyFrog or StudyPony servers.
Users can remove locally stored StudyPony data by removing the extension from their browser. Parents can also reset local parent guardrails from within the extension, which removes the parent PIN hash and turns off the homework schedule while preserving approved channels and playlists.
Data Sharing
StudyPony does not sell user data.
During early access, StudyPony does not share extension settings, approved channels, approved playlists, parent PIN hashes, or YouTube browsing activity with third parties.
If a user contacts support by email, DreamyFrog may receive the user's email address and any information the user chooses to include in the message. That information is used to respond to the support request.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
The StudyPony extension does not include third-party analytics during early access.
StudyPony does not use extension data for personalized advertising, ad targeting, retargeting, or selling user profiles.
Browser Permissions
StudyPony requests only the permissions needed to provide its YouTube study-mode features:
- storage: used to save StudyPony settings locally in browser extension storage.
- YouTube host permission: used so StudyPony can run on YouTube pages, hide distracting YouTube surfaces, read the current YouTube page context, and check the approved channel or playlist list.
StudyPony does not request access to all websites.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
StudyPony's use of information received from Chrome extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
StudyPony uses data handled through extension permissions only to provide or improve its focused YouTube learning-mode features. StudyPony does not transfer this data except as necessary to provide or improve those features, comply with applicable law, address security issues, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. StudyPony does not use this data for personalized advertising or retargeting.
Children and Families
StudyPony is designed to help adults create a focused learning environment for children and students. StudyPony does not create child profiles, does not require child accounts, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
StudyPony is designed to keep extension settings local during early access. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, but StudyPony minimizes risk by avoiding accounts, payment processing, license keys, and server-side storage of extension settings during early access.
Changes to This Policy
DreamyFrog may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If StudyPony changes how it collects, uses, stores, or shares user data, this policy will be updated before or at the time the change is released.
